How to Clean 3D Printer Fans & Prevent Heat Creep Clogs
Heatsink cooling fans pull air across metal fins to keep filament solid above the heatblock. When dust and stray filament hairs clog fan blades, thermal dissipation drops, causing heat creep clogs inside the throat tube.
Recommended Substance:
Compressed Air, Tweezers & Soft Bristle Brush
Never Use:
Spinning fan blades at high RPM with compressed air (hold blade stationary while blowing)
Step-by-Step Procedure

1. Inspect Hotend & Part Blowers
Look inside the fan duct and use tweezers to gently pull away plastic hairs caught around the fan hub.

2. Hold Blade & Blow Air
Hold the fan blade gently in place with a toothpick or finger and spray short bursts of compressed air to clear accumulated dust.
