A Quality Calibration Checklist is an empirical testing methodology employed by 3D printer operators to sequentially isolate and dial in mechanical, thermal, and software variables (Z-offset, extrusion multiplier, retraction, input shaping, and speed limits) before production runs.

First-Layer & Bed Tramming Verification

Begin calibration by verifying mechanical bed squareness, clean PEI surfaces, and precise Z-offset. A single-layer square print verifies smooth, gapless squish without ridging or nozzle dragging.

Thermal & Volumetric Flow Calibration

Next, run a temperature tower to find optimal layer bonding and minimal stringing, followed by a flow rate calibration cube to dial in outer wall thickness.

Kinematic & Motion Calibration

Finally, tune retraction settings to eliminate oozing and execute input shaping resonance sweeps to prevent ghosting at high accelerations.
