Warping is a critical 3D printing defect where the edges or corners of a print contract, curl upwards, and separate from the build plate due to uneven thermal cooling and internal polymer tension during the printing process.
The Physics Behind Warping
As molten plastic cools from extrusion temperature to room temperature, it naturally shrinks in volume. When higher layers cool faster than lower layers anchored to the heated bed, the contracting upper layers generate upward pulling forces that lift print corners.

Key methods to eliminate warping include using an enclosed print chamber to maintain warm ambient air, increasing bed temperature, applying high-adhesion textured PEI build plates, adding slicer brims, and disabling part cooling fans for materials like ABS.
